Here comes the rain again
The prism of our perception allows us to process information in a positive or negative way. If it's pouring over your head, the plants are getting what they need, and it gets cooler. Here's a nifty experiment: Think of something that happened to you today that was inconvenient, or even made you angry. Can you see, in the macroverse, a positive consequence of such an event?
Good! Now let's look at some terrible things.

A hot take on the heat
It's been generally OK when I start in the morning and go home late in the afternoon. But nowadays I have some funky hours on some choice days, and biking to work in the middle of the afternoon makes for some sweaty situations, no matter how easy you take it. Anyway, I think I'm in better shape, so I'm eating a ton of ice cream to compensate.
I take this over winter any time.

Not set in stone
I've had Google Glass for more than two years now, and it's starting to get old, in that the device is no longer being supported by developers and Google has moved on.
This is a very strange realization, because it means that the quasi-augmented reality computer face device is now obsolete. Welcome to the future.

Everything is linked

Thankfully for all of us, Yesterday's Internet, Today! is a newspaper feature that's not in the newspaper (but in a free newsletter form!) that includes many, many links, because Internets. Note how the previous sentence could have included, many, many links, but it didn't, because irony.
Personal news: Today I did sports duty and it was like this. I've also been moderating the comments on the website this week, and commenters noticed.
* "Democratic principles." That's for big-D Democrats, though, so that's just a party fight, because Democrats.
* Solar group needs more sunny faces.
* There are 86 comments, and counting, on this 144-word letter. It's about the rail-trail thing, obviously.
* This story could have used this map to make a lot more sense. If only I knew someone who worked at the paper...

Explanation needed
??? |
Some things scream for an explanation. But sometimes the answers are simpler than what one imagines them to be.
So let us innocently wonder, if only for a bit longer. You can always google for answers anyway.

Signs of the times
When you carve your own path, finding surprises is part of the fun. You also get scratched more. And even if you end up back on the trail and it took you longer to get there, the little adventure is worth the detour.
Take that little conceit where it needs to go (preferably off trail).

There's news and and there are takes. And then there's this.
I was planning on writing a long essay about the state of local news and other seemingly important things, after having a nice break and having a bit of time to think.
But that's boring.
Because distilled from particulars, the current state of news is as it was: There is news that needs to be covered, and everything else is just takes.
